5 on Friday - BIRFDAY Edition

woohoo! How about some 5 on Friday "It's my Birthday" Edition?!
It's my birthday!
Yup a Gemini - haven't you guessed by now?

I can't wait to go drink a bunch of yummy wines tomorrow with my friends. I have a table reserved for us and an amazon local coupon all printed and ready to go! After downing a bunch of wines we'll be STUFFING our faces with Mexican food. Wine + Mexican food = me a happy happy girl

I'm looking forward to QT time with Troy tonight! Probably we'll go have some drinks and I wouldn't mind a bunch of bar food too (gosh I sound like an alcoholic piggy don't I?!). He hooked me up with mani, pedi, getting my car detailed + other things. It's a goooood birthday!

wish we were back in CABO. now that would have been GREAT!

yes...this one relates to food too: Family Dinner on Sunday! My mouth watering already! I've requested Steak, Loaded Smashed Potatoes, Caprese Salad, Carmel Banana Pudding and Cupcakes. LOL I'm such a fat ass but this is the time of year that I can go nuts (well this time of year, and Christmas, and Easter, and Thanksgiving, and...whenever I feel like it I guess). I'm deleting "My Fitness Pal" app this weekend. I don't want to know my damage.

I'm really excited to turn 30 again! Can't you tell?!
I need this for Saturday!

I hope you have a fantastic Friday!

Teaser Tuesday ::: The Maze Runner

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme,
hosted by MizB of Should be Reading.
"But he remained still, despite an odd urge to apologize and change the subject; he wanted to know everything about them. Even after what he'd seen last night, even after witnessing the Griever through the window, he wanted to know. The pull to know was strong, and he didn't quite understand why."

#5 of 30 Things: What are the 5 Things That Make You Most Happy

#5 of 30 ThingsWhat are the 5 things that make you most happy right now?

In no significant order:

#1 Family. In my book - FAMILY IS EVERYTHING. And my family is #1 to me and trumps all other things. They make me laugh and feel good. Crazy bunch of people. I'm looking forward to celebrating my birthday with them soon and my cousin's birthday who's birthday is the week after mine.  Fun times.

#2 Friends. I have some awesome friends, and altho I'm not a big "pick up the phone and chat" person I love when I do get to see/talk to them. I'm so proud of all my friends and the women they have become over the years. You gals make me happy and you know who I'm talking about.

#3 Hugs and Tuesday Movie Night with Troy. I love how a hug from Troy makes all the stress and pressure in my world just melt away. Something so simple makes a world of difference. And I love how every Tuesday we grab a Redbox or Netflix and have that quality time together.

#4 Sammie and Stitch. These two pets make me happy on bad days. How can you not be happy when you see a tag wagging or meow sent in your direction. Everyone needs  a pet or have access to a pet. They make you live longer!

#5 Books. I love that I can pick up a book (or put in my earbuds for an audiobook) and just escape into a whole new world. Lately my Kindle and my iPhone have provided endless entertainment and happiness.

What is currently making you happy? It's nice to sit and think about this.

30 Things: #4 Things to Tell Your 16 Year Old Self

Hola! Moving right along to number #4:

List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.

Such an interesting question right?! Here you go:

#1 - DON'T DO "It". You know.

#2 - Save your money. At 16 I was working at the local mall. I liked it. I enjoyed working. My first job was at Hecht's and I was a floater so I got to work in all the departments. I spent my money on getting my nails did every two weeks and little Debbie cakes at school. LOL. 16 year old priorities.

#3 - Write more. When I was this age I was flirting with my writing of poetry and short stories. I wish I would have cultivated that more. Maybe things would've worked out differently.

#4 - Take those AP classes AND the tests. It would've saved me some $$ in college if I had just focused more in these harder classes while in high school.

#5 - Learn how to drive. I waited until I was in college before I learned how to drive. And I would've been more independent my college years if I didn't have to METRO and/or wait for friends for rides

#6 - Read "The Secret" and some books about managing money (I would say read Dave Ramsey's books but I don't know if he was writing his tips back then).

#7 - Get a better sports bra. I mean - hearing later people came to the track to see me run - embarrassing. I needed to tape my puppies down.

#8 - Buy "Drysol" for my sweaty pits. I WISH I knew this existed back then. Would have saved me from those embarrassing pit stains and I could've worn cuter shirts.

#9 - Get the Pill. I missed so much school due to my terrible periods. If I was on the pill I wouldn't have had to crawl into my mom's room begging her to let me stay home. I could barely stand up straight at the start of my cycle.

#10 - BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. Don't listen to the haters.

Overall I was a pretty good kid. I didn't drink/drug and I listened to my mom (because I was scared of her) so I don't have too many 16 year old regrets. What about you? What's one thing you would tell your 16 year old self?

5 on Friday

TGIF! I'm happy it's FRIDAY! It hasn't been a terrible week - not at all. But I'm ready for the weekend!
So I finally closed something for the May issue. I was worried I wouldn't have any sales and something came thru. Thanks GOODNESS! I was in the hole $21 for the month now I'm in the positive. Woo-hoo! I REALLY want to win President's Club again!
I've been doing this Slim & Sassy stuff my doTERRa for a week now and I still can't get over the taste. It's so disgusting. I don't know how people swallow this. I went to whole foods and bought some vcaps to put the oil in so I can avoid tasting it. It helps in terms of getting the oil into my body but it's not good when I burp and all I can taste it then. Ugh. It's so gross but I want to be skinny ;).

While looking for pictures to make my mother's day collage I came across these two photos of my parents and myself when I was just a little babe. I love it.

I'm enjoying doing the 30 Things series. I think you're suppose to do one post a day for 30 days but I'm stretching it out. I have about 3 posts done. I figure it'll take me quite a few more weeks to get the other 27 done.
Flash Back Friday Pic of me and Sammie:

Quite a size difference right?!

Pinspirational #3

These pins have my hooker juices flowing this week (that sounds so gross but you SHOULD know what I mean by now):

This stitch is so pretty and the yarn is awesome too. I just ordered this brand of yarn to make some booties out of but I think I'll use it to copy-cat this shawl. {via}
Use this bottle holder as a party gift. This is a great idea for a housewarming party! {via}
Does anyone know the point to Crochet Jar Cozy? Please tell me. They sure are cute! {via}

3/30 Things: Relationship with Parents

Hola! Ready for #3 of 30 Things?

3. Describe your relationship with your parents.

I have a great relationship with my parents!

My mom is my BFF. She's the only person that really gets me and I cannot express how much that means to me. I know she's here to help me whenever I need (even if I don't know I need it) and she's a great friend. I love that we can hang out and be friends and be mother-daughter. She's an awesome mom/woman and I'm so thankful to have her in my life!

circa 1984? 1985?

circa 2014

I have to tell you my dad is the best dad in the whole wide world. I know you may think your dad is pretty groovy but he doesn't beat mine! I only get to see him a couple times a year since he lives in Sunny FL but now that he knows how to work his FaceTime I get to see him a little more often. My stepmom told me "I hope you find a man [husband] just like your dad"  - I think that's THE BEST compliment ever. I'm 30+ and will always be daddy's girl! He spoiled me and still does!

Sadly I can't find a recent photo of me and my dad (I recently lost all the photos I had from my last visit to him when I broke my last phone). That means I have to make a trip to Florida soon to take new ones!

I <3 my parents. I thank them that they didn't stay married (which is weird) but they are good people apart and so different and I got such a great perspective on life growing up watching them live their individual lives.

Love you mom and dad!

Teaser Tuesday: Queen Sugar

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme,
hosted by MizB of Should be Reading.

"Three days ago Charley Bordelon and her eleven-year-old daughter, Michah, locked up the rented Spanish bungalow with its cracked tile roof and tumble of punch-colored bougainvillea and left Los Angeles for good. In an old Volvo wagon with balding tires and a broken air conditioner, they followed the black vein of highway..."
This is the first paragraph of the book - would you continue reading?

Virtual Coffee & Book Review

Hiya! Did you have a good weekend? Ready for some virtual coffee and a book review?!

Today I'm skipping coffee and having a glass of water with some Slim & Sassy dōTERRA drops in it. We'll see how THAT goes.

{sip #1}I had a great weekend celebrating mother's day with my mom this weekend. I took her out Saturday for a yummy dinner at Founding Farmers and surprised her with a Pandora bracelet. Then on Sunday we headed north to celebrate with my aunt and grandma and have family dinner.

{sip #2} Before dinner on Saturday we went and viewed about 7 condos/townhomes. I found one I really like but I have to decide if it's worth me moving so far north. We'll see though. I'm hoping once school's out more places will come on the market.

{sip #3} I'm having two posts today - so go and read my other post about my 3 Top Fears and tell me if you can relate (or not).

{Audio} Book Review

I have to say: Believe the hype - this book is great!

I love when a book alternates between multiple character's voices. I found myself liking all the characters and drawn into their stories. Although, I have to admit I found myself wanting to skip ahead to hear all the secrets...but I didn't...but trust me - you'll want to!

I audiobooked this read and I enjoyed the performance put on by the narrator (and she had an Australian accent which help me place/visualize the characters even better). I found myself listening to this book instead of watching TV or listening to music! It's great!

I recommend you pick this book up and give it a go! You won't be disappointed.

~ Trish

2/30 Things: Fears

2. Describe 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears

Fear 1: I will be kid-less

I don't want to get too into it but I do worry that I wont have even one baby! I haven't tried but I do think about it. But who knows. This is one fear that only time will tell.  How did this become a fear? I can't pinpoint it but I have my reasons.

Fear 2:  Retaliation

We had an "incident" at work and I have anxiety that the person who ended up parting from the company will come back and retaliate against the whole team. It wasn't anything I (or WE) did, but some people can't accept blame for their own actions and I'm afraid we'll be punished somehow, someway for this.  How this became a fear? Well this person can't seem to let things go and has retaliated in the past. Not towards me. I don't ever want to be in that position but I worry about it. Constantly. I have rubber neck these past few weeks looking around.

Fear 3: Death

Not my own death (oddly enough) but my parents, my friends, my cat - hell even dead fish bug me. I can't imagine my life without any of the key players in it so when I get random calls  from friends or family the worse always pops into my mind (you know the general times - say your mom - calls you and if she calls at a total opposite time - it's a freak out session in my head).  How did this become a fear - I think you can guess. We've been all in the position of losing one person you dread the thought of losing another.

What are your fears? Can you relate to any of mine?

1/30 Things: 20 Randoms

Let the fun begin!  Here's post 1 out of 30
To know what I'm referring to click HERE or read yesterday's post.
1. List 20 random facts about yourself.
1. I don't tell people my middle name for fear they are going to say it wrong (like jumble it together like it's one word when it's really two).

2. Speaking of names I HATE being called "Pat". I had a client who called me Pam for many years and I just answered to it because I'd rather be called the wrong name over being called Pat.

3. I have a semi-addictive personality - especially on games (I was probably a gambler in a past life) like candy crush, farm story, restaurant story, diner dash, etc. If it's on my phone and I can play it...I probably do.

4. I do the "single girl sweep" almost everytime I get home to my apartment  if Troy's not there (check behind the shower curtain, look in every room and closet).

5. I cannot own a scale (which I do right now and shouldn't) because I obsess over my weight and will weigh myself multiple times a day.

6. I love the Jason Mraz song "I'm Yours"

7. I don't like my ice cream and cake touching on the same plate

8. I like candles (and perfume) that smells like candy

9. I'm blind without my glasses and feel completely helpless when I cannot find them (luckily I have 4 pairs).

10. I went two years with out a decent vacuum (gross. I know)

11. Took me 30 years to embrace my curly hair

12. Jenn and Marie really encouraged me to do this blog thing and I APPRECIATE them for that

13. I'm really insecure about the items I crochet. I always worry if it's "good enough"

14. I wanted to be a teacher when I was growing up

15. I was the Editor in Chief of my HS Literary Magazine and Co-Features Editor of the HS newspaper

16. I LOVE Jalapeño Cheetos and Strawberry soda (sometimes at the same time!)

17. I love watching prison shows (i.e. Locked Up)

18. I cry EVERY SINGLE TIME I watch The Notebook

19. I wish I lived closer to my little sisters (or that they lived closer to me). I'm missing out on watching them grow up. Makes me sad

20. I'm an affirmations girl. I love and need them and I'm embarrassed by that!

Ok! There you go! Twenty things about me! What about you? What's one random fact about you that I don't know? Leave it below (or leave me a link to your list!).

30 Things

So. I was over at USS Crafty reading all her posts and clicking all her links when she mentioned in her Writing Process Blog post that she was going to start a series 30 Things My Kids Should Know About Me. And I think that idea is SO neat.  Seeing to how I don't have kids it would just be really weird for me to do that (besides mine should probably be 30 things my kids SHOULDN'T know about me).
So I kept on my clicking and found that

You want to jump in on this 30 Things too? Have you already done this list? Let me know!!

I created a PAGE and will update every time I write a new post under this series.

What I'm Loving Wednesday - Etsy Edition

Virtual Coffee

Giiiirrrl - are you ready for some seriously much needed coffee?

{sip #1} I'm actually having a cup of light roast with just one measly tablespoon of creamer and no sugar. Not very good but I'm counting calories and drinking my coffee this way saves me a lot if calories.

{sip #2} I'm down FIVE whole pounds! I'm so excited! I told Troy and asked him if he noticed (jokingly) and he goes "I liked it when you were 180 pounds". Me shocked say "I have never been 180!" LOL. I've been really close but not quite.

{sip #3} I'm feeling discourage about finding a home. My lease is up in August so I'm considering buying something but nothing on the market interest me. It may be my beer budget can't supply me with my champagne lifestyle.

{sip #4} Work is so slow for me this month. I have one sale on the books. That's terrible. I'll be prospecting all week. Where's the money?!

{sip #5} What's going on in your life? Any news? Gossip? Advice? Share share!

Pinspirational #2

I have a few projects I'm currently hooking but I'm always looking for my next one! Here's what has Pinspired this week:
LOVE the colors on this. I find it so interesting to look at!
Ravelry: Blackberry Salad Striped Baby Blanket - free pattern!
I would love to wear something I made (besides a scarf) and this is cute (and not grammy looking like some other ponchos):
Blue Poncho. Motif is graphed, with two possisble layouts shown
I think I like the room overall but this rug would be something easy to make an is probably quite soft!
Hexagon Rug
OMG - this is SO cute. I will definitely have to give this a try one day:
Lastly for this week:
Crochet bracelet with charms, wrap bracelet, silver grey, cuff bracelet…
What are you Pinspired from this week?
